SHICHIBUKAI THEORY

     A theory that Oda based the 7 Shichibukai off the 7 Heroes from the 1993 Japanese game :
     'Romancing Saga 2'.
     I first came across this theory off a forum (here) and have found it extremely interesting and amusing
     as every character matches up! The greatest part about it is that it gives hope to the theory that
     Crocodile was once a female! HA.

• Kujinshi (クジンシー Kujinshī^?, "Kzinssie"): A floating demon with a scarf covering his face, wielding a sword. Can steal life energy or souls using Life Steal or Soul Steal. Defeated by Gellard and returns in the Final Scenario with an even more grotesque appearance than when you first met him.

     = GEKKO MORIA 

• Wagnas (ワグナス Wagunasu^?): A hero with both angelic and butterfly-like characteristics, the incredibly feminine-looking Lord Wagnas is actually male. He enslaves the Iris race to do his bidding, and resides in a floating castle above the Eastern Kingdom. He uses the special move "Psycho Burst," causing a large amount of damage on one character and collateral damage and status effects on other members.

     = CROCODILE

• Dantarg (ダンターグ Dantāgu^?): With features reminiscent of both elephants and sauropods as well as that of the mythical centaur, Lord Dantarg is one of the most physically powerful of the Seven Heroes. He terrorizes the migratory clans, and prefers devastating physical attacks, including Grand Slam. He is also the only hero with four different forms, depending on the time in which the character fights him. Uses the special move "Rampage."

     = KUMA

• Bokuohn (ボクオーン Bokuōn^?, "Bokhohn"): A puppeteer demon with an elderly appearance, Bokuohn is in control of the majority of the Seven Heroes' forces. Situated in the Steppes region, he owns a large landship, complete with an innumerable amount of slaves. His special technique, "Marionette," allows him to manipulate all party members.

     = DOFLAMINGO

• Subier (スービエ Sūbie^?): A male octopus-human hybrid that controls various minions in the ocean. Defeating the narwhal known as Master of Ocean will unleash Subier's more powerful form. His preferred move is "Maelstrom."

     = JINBEI

• Noel (ノエル Noeru^?): A Swordsman who always keeps his word. Very powerful, with a strict code of honor. If you defeat Rocbouquet before you fight him, however, he becomes completely unwilling to compromise, and becomes unrelenting in combat.

     = MIHAWK

• Rocbouquet (ロックブーケ Rokkubūke^?): The only female of the 7, she controls all the men in the Jungle villages. While there, she aspires to know the secret of a nearby temple. Her Temptation skill charms all male party members. She is also the sister of Lord Noel.

     = BOA HANCOCK

The Seven Heroes will become more powerful as you level up. However, even if you move quickly through the game, the last hero you fight will always be in his/her most powerful stage (except for Subier if you let Master of Ocean flee); this is only if you enter the final dungeon with one of the Heroes remaining. If you don't kill Kujinshi Reborn at the start of the final scenario you will always have to fight him in the final dungeon instead of any of the Remaining Heroes. In the final battle, the Seven Heroes merge into an extremely powerful monster that uses all of their abilities.
